Offset Problem

Hi,

I am new to Autocad 2014, and using it for college. I am doing a drawing and have offset a line 40mm from another. When checking the dimensions later using the dimension tool, it comes back with 40.34mm. What is happening? Please help. Is there something in setup I should do?

How did you specify the offset distance?

Could you be measuring on a different plane that was active when the OFFSET was created?

Is SNAP turned on?  (ie snap to grid points)

Are you measuring to the same snap point on each line?  ie endpoint to endpoint or midpoint to midpoint?

Attach a sample drawing if possible containing two lines that seem not to be offsetting/measuring correctly.
