Mystery Lines

Hi,

Does anyone know why these mysterious lines appear? They seem to appear after a long drawing session. The lines I am referring to are the vertical lines that dangle off of the other diagnol lines I have drawn. They appear on any lines regardless of what angle line I draw. I have attached a snapshot. Even the X,Y & Z have these lines attached to them.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi,

what OS do you have, what graphic card do you have (including driver version)?

What happens if you disable the hardware acceleration?

Had a problem simmilar some time ago playing around with 3D. Disabling hardware acceleration solves the problem temporary.

It appears the lines are also showing up on your UCS icon.

One question - if you change to 2D Wireframe mode, are the lines still there?  It appears that it might be a setting in the Conceptual Visual style.

Also noticed that you have an update available. This is worth a try as well.

Make sure you are using a recommended driver for your video card. I have seen drivers that are newer then recommended cause visual anomalies like this before.

Your not drawing really far from the 0,0 point are you?

Sorry for the late response Greg......

Thanks for pointing that out. Unfortunately I have problems every time I attempt to update AutoCAD, so as soon as I have a moment I will tackle that.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Lance,

Thanks for the link.

Not sure how to know how far "really far" is but I'm drawing about 400" from 0,0,0.

As far as the graphics card goes, it's an AMD Radeon HD 6750M. I am using Windows 7, 64 bit, and using AutoCAD 2013. I notice that in the link I don't see my specific card recommended, but see an AMD Radeon HD 6450M. Do you know if I'm safe here or might there be an issue? I'm kind of a newbie with all this tech talk- just to let you know what level I'm at with all of this.

Thanks,

Peter

One way to check if your graphics card is up to date is the 3DCONFIG command

Run this command and then check for updates. If there are updates you can update from this dialog box. The picture below doesn't show this because I have already updated it in this dialog box in a previous session.

Hi Alfred,

Disabling the hardware acceleration seems to have cured the problem. I am using Windows 7 and my graphics card is AMD Radeon HD6750M.

Thank you much for your help!

Peter
