Low performance MEP 2013 on station

Hello.

Please help.

I have a station for many tasks and one of them AutoCad.

MB - ASUS Z9PE-D8

Xeon E5-2650 v2 -2 CPU

RAM - 128Gb

Quadro K4000

ssd - intel 240Gb

AutoCad 2013 MEP

CAD load only 1 core and Quadro no more then 5%. Then i'm change view mode from hand to orbit and back AutoCad freeze by 5 -10 min.

I'm try 2015 MEP trial, but have the same problem.

If need it, can load my work cad file.

Hello from France

Welcome to the Autodesk/AutoCAD Forums !

1) Have you installed the SP 2 for MEP 2013 ?

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-mep/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-mep-2013-...

2) Have you updated your NVidia driver ? ... Latest version is about Spring/Summer 2014 !?

3) Have you opened ALL your DWGs (Main DWG + Xref DWGs) in RECOVER Mode and PURGE annd RESave them ...

*** A few Infos ***

Please remind that ACAD 20xx is NOT AT ALL Multi-Cores so having a second processor is "crazy" !

Revit & Inventor are using a little bit more the Multi-Cores ...

but please a good ONE (Very fast Quad-Cores like : Core i5 , Core i7 , Xeon) is enough TOO with Revit & Inventor !!

You must have ONE Processor (Quad-Cores) as fast as possible depending on your budget !

Today the fastest processor is the Core i7 4790K : Basic speed = 4.0 Ghz + 400 Mhz Turbo-Mode

If your overclock it a little bit, maybe 10% with a good Ventirad : No Problem !... Very reliable ...

And you have the FASTEST PC for ACAD, Revit, Inventor ! This PC will cheaper than ANY Workstation ...

Waiting ...

This station not only for AutoCad, cause have second CPU.

Answers

1. Yes, sp2 installed.

2. Latest Nvidia drivers installed.

3. I followed the advice, but not result.

I thought that  xeon 3+ Ghz (overclock from 2.6) will good for Cad, but it seems wrong.

Thanks for comment.

Hello

Please you look at ALL your Line Types (Continuous, Axis, Dash, Dot, Phantom, etc) used in your DWGs, have you many dozens/hundred of them ??

If YES, you are facing to the bug "DGN MicroStation LineTypes" !

Hello

Thks, I have downloaded your MEP 2013 DWG ...

I am loading it on my 32 bits MEP 2013 + SP2 ...

But my current PC (Notebook Dell Vostro 1520 - Win Seven 32 bits - 4 Gb) is an old PC with a SLOW Core 2 Duo !

I have opened it in Recover mode (---> 2 errors corrected) , going back to layer ZERO , PURGE everything , SCALELISTEDIT then REMOVE All possible Scales ... and REsaving your DWG ...

The task "ACAD.exe" (32 bits)  is using about 1.1 Gb memory which is very near from the famous 1.3 Gb barrier (The Death with 32 bits ACAD.exe)

I can zoom (slowly) and change my ViewPoint (slowly) : no specific problem !

Sorry I can test more because I have not the required Hardware : especially a real graphic card with dedicated memory ...

You can do the following test :

- WBLOCK (to a NEW DWG) the 3 rectangular important areas

- Quit Current working DWG

- Open the NEW DWG

- Select the 3 rectangular important areas and move then very near from 0,0

- Save, Quit, ReOpen

- Is the 3DOrbit possible ?

Sorry my help has been limited ...

Tried it also - yes, slow and impossible to work with. But this is normal for AutoCAD - old, 2d drafting software getting bloated and slow with each release. Imported in Rhino - here we go!!! I'm tired of blaming the hardware when there is a problem with AutoCAD performance!

But i will try get CPU with more high frequency, maybe it's help.

Hello

1) Have you tried what I was asking for ?

WBLOCK ... All entities near Zero, Zero !?

2) The fastest available CPU today for ACAD, Revit, Inventor, etc; is the "beautiful" Intel Core i7 4790K (Basic speed = 4.0 Ghz + 400 Mhz with Turbo Mode)

Please look at this Topic :
