LAYTRANS Description Missing from Conversion

I have a drawing file with the new layers that include the layer's description. I used LAYTRANS to convert the old named layers to the new ones. It seems to to have worked, but the layer descriptions are missing. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a workaround?

hi , just check with you have you tried layer manager or command > LMAN?  just a suggestion. thanks
