How many xrefs in a file?

Size of each file/xref before attachment?

method of attachment?

plain AutoCAD content, or AEC content (from verticals like Civil ro Architecture etc.) in any of the files?

it was attached not overlay.it is about 13 xref files, all are in different sizes, varies about 1mb to 5 mb..but now i've binded and all xref's are blocks.i could not find AEC objects in the drawings.

>>>...now i've binded and all xref's are blocks...<<<

13files x 1-5MB = +/-50MB

Is there something I'm missing? The numbers seem to add up my friend.

yes if u calculate like that, then thats correct. but one file i somehow managed to reduce to 8.5 MB.purge, audit, recover, convert to dxf and back..etc etc. the same procedure i tried to use for others.only few mb's are reducing. In some files it is showing AcDbDictionary 266MB. cannot save.and i can only save in 2013 format not in 2007 which client wants.

While you wait for others to offer suggestions, I thought I'd let you know that when you get aorund to saving the file down to R2007 format the file will gain in size a noticeable percentage. R2013 has a significantly better compression that lower versions.

May I ask if your concern for a 50MB is due to the inability to email, or something else? And why you decided to bind all the files instead of simply leaving them as separate Xrefs?

eventhough 2013 format is fine. but the file size is my main concern.client doesnt want xref's in the drawings, it is their instruction all the xref's must be binded.there are 1500+ drawings and its about 75GB!!! so they asked us to try for a reduced file size. thanks a lot for ur valuble help..

Try to handle such large projects with Sheet sets.It is indeed very convenient for file management. And should decrease the file size too. All the best.

Hi,

I felt that, your all of Xref files have large annotative scales and some raster images. Anyway.

OPTION-1

1. Make sure you are using either metric or imperial.

2. In Option, User Preferences, reduce the default scale list. Apply, Ok.

3.Open your Xref file, In all of your Xref file, remove unnecessary annotative scales by SCALELISTEDIT and RESET.

4.Purge, Save and check drawing properties.

OPTION-2, there are some option by import and export from other applications like Revit,..etc  But I prefer to sort of issues from same application which are using.

FOLLOWED BY OPTION-1

1. Use Etransmit your main drawing first before binding.

2. Check drawing properties. If its reduce, then go for binding.

Please let me know, if its not worked out and if you have enough time to cleanup all of your Xref files, i will give you some solutions.

Best Regards
