Going to put 2015 away

How very disappointing. We spend so much money, many hours beta testing, many more hours in this forum and Autodesk still cannot produce what we've asked and paid for. As I type, I'm waiting (20 min. now) for 2015 ro exit block editor. If this continues, we will be so overcharging our clients, we will look like absolute fools. I now have well over 40 minutes in a small change that should have taken 15 - 20 minutes.

Between restarts due to hanging, w...a...i...t...i...n...g for regens, resetting switches and, did I mention waiting for block editor to exit, I've become not the most productive, but the least....

Maybe, if enough take similar action (I'm not trying to start a movement, just saying it could lead to many not upgrading) Autodesk will provide the product their PAYING customers are asking for.

Since it's now 30 minutes waiting for Block editor to exit.... Forget the fluff and produce the stuff. Make it work before you make it pretty. There cannot even be the excuse that there are a lot of blocks in the drawing to update, it occurs only one time.

Guess I'll do ahead and kill it and loose that 5 minute I put in to it before it hung....

What you ask for and what you pay for are different things.  You pay for the right to use the product (licensing) and pay for support (Subscription) and you don't pay for this forum.  Nowhere in the agreement are there terms where AutoDesk must include/exclude features based on your input.  If that were the agreement, how well do you think your own demands would be met considering the other (and sometimes contrary) demands of others?  There's no guarantee that any program or version will explicitly meet your specific requirements short of you contracting out work for hire under such terms that the developer doesn't get paid if they don't meet their end of the contract.

For what its worth - we don't install every version.  Sometimes they don't work to our satisfaction, sometimes there isn't enough difference to warrant an upgrade.  But even if its a complete flop (e.g. stand-alone licensed AutoCAD not able to use network licensed Raster Design in the 2010 release), keeping a level of emotional detachment is a good idea.  I have zero expectation of AutoDesk or other developer to take my personal feelings into account.

For what it's worth, I've also shelved AutoCAD2015 for a variety of issues that remain unfixed.

My $0.02 is that there is more than one rung on the corporate ladder populated with employees that simply do not care about the needs of the end user.   Too few people that have instructions to "get it fixed, or we'll replace you with someone that can".

Hello from France

Well some major french customers are always using 2014 (sometimes older) versions even if they have installed the 2015 !?

I let a chance at Autodesk to release a "correct" 2015 with a future SP 3 ...

A long time ago (1995-1996), I have used the worst ACAD ever released : the R13 !

<French Humour ON>

Today the 2015 is FAR from the "very bad" R13 but it can approach ...

<French Humour OFF>

Hello from France

Funny, last week I spent a few days in one of the "largest/biggest" (Sorry I don't know the right word) Engineering French Company ...

... to try to help them a little bit because our ACAD MEP specialist was busy ...

They are ALWAYS using AutoCAD MEP 2014 + SP 1 and it is very strange : they don't plan to upgrade to ACAD MEP 2015 !?

On very high-end Workstation : Single (sometimes Dual) fast Xeon , minimum Ram = 32 Gb , minimum graphic card = NVidia Quadro 4000 , Dual 24/27" screens, etc ...

The 3D models are too BIG , it's almost impossible to navigate in 3D (with ACAD MEP) through the Models ...

So they are navigating with NavisWorks 2014 ... on the second screen ...

I am not sure that it will be much better with REVIT MEP ?

I think they sacrificed the integrity of the product Functioning to an effective level for the masses, to create what they consider a really cool gui.

FAILED on many levels.

it has been my experience that Autodesk has been worse in the odd number years.

and getting worse with this design suite approach.

how many people (subscription customers) actually use all apps provided in the suite they purchased.

nice marketing scheme we all bought into.

I also shelved 2015 almost immediately and am working with 2014.  I have 2015 loaded and open it from time to time just to remind myself as to why I am still with 2014.

The decision was made here to only upgrade to the even numbered versions and even then not until at least SP1 of that version.  It would take having something really major in an odd version to deviate from that.

We're just now starting to use 2014 in production.  I've had it installed for a couple months to get a feel for any changes that I need to know about.

Hello Dony

OK good Luck with 2014 !

I estimate that the 2014 is a "correct" version ...

Even versions are very often better than odd version, it's mysterious !?

If it is not secret, how many people/PCs will use now 2014 ?

and before they were using ?
