Font size in Properties Palette

I keep the Properties Palette open all the time  (as most anyone using an AutoCAD vertical product probably does) and I'm finding two annoyances with the new Properties palette.   1) For some reason the text size in the right column has been increased (left column text size is unchanged)  so that now the amount of information has been reduced by about 50% compared to  previous versions.  2) In previous versions, hovering would display the entire field (LayerName for example) regardless of length, whereas 2015 seems to truncate the hover popup at only 20 characters.

Any fix for this via AutoCAD or Windows settings?

Hi,

sorry, I can't agree to that as I see that without any issues.

When looking to your Fonts used in the property window ... did you customize any font-sizing in the os (e.g. font size <> 100%)?

For me it looks like that:

PropertyWindow_LayerNameCharCount_MouseHover_2015_AN01.gif

tried it also in English, interestingly there it reduces to 37 characters before the ... are displayed, but not 28 (I guess you use a larger font than default in os).

The behavior you are seeing appears to be what you'd see by having your Windows setting larger than 100%.  What is yours set to?

Thanks for the replies.  I'm not aware that I changed the font settings, but  I will check.  I will note however that whatever is different on my machine only affects 2015 as my animation was made using CTRL+Tab to toggle between 2014 & 2015.

To get to that panel, right-click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution".  Towards the bottom, select "Make text and other items larger or smaller".  But, as you said, it seems unrelated.

I've seen other people having these sort of issues in this forum, although in that case, I think it affected all elements in AutoCAD 2015, not just the Properties palette.  I think those issues stemmed from running AutoCAD 2015 on a computer with a super high resolution display (larger than 2560x1600).

Indeed changing the display did sycronize the font sizes and restore the roll-over box to previous functionality, but there's no way I can use my UXGA laptop at those settings.. . text is too small.  The text is scaled uniformly in 2011 through 2014, it's only the right column in 2015's Properties Palette that's displaying the wrong size text as far as I can tell.

I'll try rolling back video drivers and see if that helps.

Here's one of the posts I was referring to earlier:
http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2013-2014-2015/Why-AutoCAD-2015-is-still-not-HiDPI-compatible/...
Doesn't look like you'll get a solution out of it, though.

Hopefully, updated graphics drivers for AutoCAD 2015 from NVIDIA and AMD will fix these sort of problems.  They're expected any time now.  I know NVIDIA has a beta version out for 2015 and AMD has sent theirs to Autodesk for testing.

I just wanted to update that changing drivers didn't seem to have any affect.  I've tried half a dozen drivers, and the text in the right side of the Properties palette scales incorrecty at "125%" and the Properties palette hover tooltip information remains truncated... everything else appears to scale correctly whether Windows 7 is at 100 or 125%.

Did you try the beta NVIDIA drivers for AutoCAD 2015?  I don't think the official drivers have been released for 2015 yet.  The Autodesk certified cards page is bogus right now.

Here is an article that we have which talks about this:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/article/Odd-graphics-display-when-working-with-a-high-resolution-high-...

However, with AutoCAD 2015 there does seem to be something more going on when scaling up the system text size over prior versions. We would not expect the text to display so different in the properties palette as it does between AutoCAD 2015 and 2014. AutoCAD development is investigating the issue. For now the workaround is to set your system text scaling to 100% and/or reduce the overall screen resolution.

In case anyone is still interested: there's a different temporary workaround for this UI design failure.

That is an interesting observation, however my preliminary test show that while the Windows "Message Box" font size can be used to reduce the size of text on the right side of the Properties Palette, it arguably makes the problem worse because the right side text becomes smaller than the left size text when selected.  Also, other "Message box" text, both within AutoCAD and other apps is now too small again... defeating the purpose of using Windows font scaling to make text more readable on a laptop display.

Thanks for the info though

Please help! I just upgraded from 2014 to 2015 today.  I have the exact same problem.  Did you migrate your settings? Maybe that is what did it because i migrated after installation.  All of my palettes have large writing just like yours.  I can go back to autocad 2014 and they are fine just like yours.  Did anyone find a solution?  Every other text setting is good on my 2015, its ONLY any palette, (properties, xrev, sheet manager, too palette).   Another thing driving me crazy is they moved the status bar at the very bottom left of the screen to the bottom right and i cant figure out how to relocate it back to the left where it was been since inception.  Thank you!

I had a very simple solution:

-click in autocad icon with right botton of mouse

-properties;

-compatibility;

-CONFIGURATIONS;  replace DPI>   ADJUST  =   system(advanced);

solved

On my desktop I right clicked on my autocad start up icon, went to properties and then the compatibility tab. From there nothing is the same as you have described. I am running 2015 full version of autocad. I am also about to be using the 2019 version soon (not sure if it will be lt or full). In 2015, under the compatibility tab, I see compatibility mode for vista. Settings to run in 256 colors, 640x480 screen, disable visual themes, disable desktop composition, disable display scaling on high dpi settings. Privilege level>run this program as an admin. Change settings for all users. I don't see any of the other steps you mentioned. Thanks for your help.

I have a different query- but similar! I find some of the text size in the properties panel (particularly area/length etc) too small to read. Is there a way to increase this size? In other software things are generally Ok.
