Font not displaying in some drawings

I've got a shape file that isn't displaying in some drawings.  I've had trouble in the past with this particular font.  If I restart autocad, it will sometimes display properly again. 

I've got the font pathed properly in my files folder.  Has anyone had this problem before?

Running Autocad 2013.

Any advice?

When you say Shape File, I presume you are talking about an SHX font, and not a TrueType font (TTF)?

If so, pay careful attention to your command line history when you open drawings, looking for a message like "xxx.shx is a shape file, not a font file" -or- "xxx.shx substituted by yyy.shx" or any other shape/font related messages.
