Edit Existing Custom DWG Properties

I need to change the label of some drawing properties. Is there a way to edit the name, or create a new property and move it up or down the list? I have a lot of properties to fill and need to simplify it for others in my template.

Nothing OOTB will do that.  Either some programming will be required to read all the values and tags, delete them, and recreate in your preferred order, or you'll have to do it the hard way.

Can I ask, WHY it matters?

It matters because i don't have much time to delete them and recreate them
and put them back into their spots. Soon enough i'll have a mass amount of
people using the same templates. The purpose of the templates is to make
things as dumb downed as possible for CAD noobies.

Best place to ask for customization help is http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Visual-LISP-AutoLISP-and-General/bd-p/130

Remember to share with them all info, inluding your snapshot.

OK, I can understand that you want them in a reasonable order for distribution.  It's always good  to look good.

But, either someone provides you some custom code to do it, or you do it by hand.  I suspect that if it's a template drawing, it will get done faster if you just do it instead of waiting on someone to code something up.

I've run into similar issues not being able to re-order SheetSet & Sheet Properties in SSM -- said s**w it and just redid them.

This is one of the many "simple" things AutoDesk continues to ignore. It's so annoying as a user. CAD draftsmen in general are precise people. Something like this should be be second nature to AutoDesk applications.

"simple" to you perhaps, but Autodesk will never know unless you (and everyone else) start telling them directly here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/contact-support
and here https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback

Do your part: report it. Often.

We have revived an old tool by Kruuger which can edit DWG properties and change their order - see EditCustomerProperties on www.cadforum.cz/download

The EditCustomProperties lisp routine by Kruuger will not import custom properties in AutoCAD 2024. It seems the latest AutoCAD version has broken the import. The reorder function still works and the export function does export a file with all the properties and values.
