I tried the following 2 methods and it still didn't work.  I kept getting this "drawing is invalid" message.

Recover

Open this dwg file in TrueDWG

I read some threads that you now have to have the old AutoCAD to open the 2007 or before dwg files.  Is that true.

If anybody can open it I greatly appreciate it.

See attached.

looking at the frile in notepad++,  every character is a NUL.  at a guess, somebody used an application to wipe the file and over-write it.  ot else a pretty substantial error on the hard drive

I opened your file in Windows Notepad and it has no header: it's a dead file. Valid DWG files have headers that start with AC then digits.

Not even my third party DWG-capable software can open it. It's a dead file. Nothing to recover.

You guys are right.  I already told the guy and he told me the file is corrupted for some reason.
