copy a section of a AutoCad file

Hi

Have downloaded 2014 AutoCad student for learning

I have a large file (.dwg) of a building site. How do i copy a section of the building site and then place this copied section into a new .dwg file?

Thanks

Ray

Copy and paste tools work like any other application. Just press ctrl+c to copy, ctrl+v to paste. With the added bonus that if you use ctrl+shift+c to copy, you can specify a base point so you can insert it exactly where you want in your second dwg.

Best regards

If the "new .dwg file" doesn't yet exist to paste into, use WBLOCK [read about it in Help].
