Circular Viewports

I'm loosing my crosshairs/cursor and commands don't work after I've made a circle into a viewport. Anyone else experience this problem?

Yes if you are in a layout in a viewport: VPMAX seems to cure it (VPMIN to go back).

That does work. However I was making sure that all text and info needed were not out of the circle. Toggeling back and forth can be a work around but I lose the boundaries of the circle. Why not fix the issue?

My text and info is all in model space. I do not annotate in layout.

To see the circle boundary I'd suggest drawing a circle in paper space that matches the viewport then use "chspace" to move it to model space. Put it on a no plot layer or erase it once you're done.

Hi cmiller,

I could not reproduce the lost crosshairs after converting a circle into a viewport.

  • Do you have the service pack: AutoCAD 2015 Service Pack 1
  • GRAPHICSCONFIG>Set Hardware Acceleration to Off. Any change?
  • Does it seem file specific? Can you post a dwg?
  • Any difference if you create a Polygonal viewport using the Arc option?

Thanks 🙂

  • GRAPHICSCONFIG>Set Hardware Acceleration to Off. Any change? That seemed to fix it somewhat.
  • Does it seem file specific? Can you post a dwg?  Only when I have a circular VP. Not sure how.
  • Any difference if you create a Polygonal viewport using the Arc option?  Didn't try those yet.

Hi cmiller,

Is working with hardware acceleration disabled still working for you?

Thanks 🙂
