Can't get rid of unwanted linetypes.

I am building a template.  In that template I brought over some legend info etc.  somehow my template went from 10 linetypes to 500.  I tried deleting some of the lines but AutoCAd says

The selected lintype was not deleted.  The following lintypes cannot be deleted.  Linetypes By Layer, ByBlock and Continuous, The Current Layer linetype, X-ref-dependent linetypes, Linetypes reference by layers or objects.

I purged the drawing and also purged the nested objects.   They will not be deleted.  In the purge frame I click the bottom items that cannot be purged and there are a tonne of blocks that I assume these linetypes are associated too.  But can't delete them.

Any ideas on how to get rid of these blocks or linetypes?

Kindest Regards

Start EXCHANGE inside AutoCAD, go to the Apps Store, download a freeware plug-in called DWG-PURGE: it does what the hotfix does without all the clunky procedures.

I don't know about the appstore app, but the hotfix is two parts.  One is a .NET app that will purge out existing unused dgn linetypes.  The other part is an update/fix to a module that's part of AutoCAD and controls how wblock (which is used by copy to clipboard) deals with dgn linetypes.  The second part is needed to prevent this problem from happening again in the future.

You are running Civil3d -- is it possible that those linetypes/blocks are referenced by your civil3d styles?  Try exporting your template to a vanilla Acad file, (ExportToAutoCAD), then open in your plain AutoCAD (Civil3D As AutoCAD icon), and see if they can be purged that way.

Thank you that worked like a charm.  Very easy to install and run.  Exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks for you help, I never got to try your solution and accepted the solution for the free DWG-Purge download from the App store.

Thanks anyways for taking the time to help.  It was much appreciated.

For remove unused / unwanted line type.... Step-1 Save as your drawing to .dxf format & step-2 => open .dxf file and now purge in .dxf file...=> step-3 after purge.. use "audit" command and audit your drawing ... again used purge command .... => => save your .dxf file to .dwg. file ... enjoy... all unwanted/unused line types are deleted... If using AutoCAD2015, it's built into the Purge command, otherwise you can get the hotfix here

Thanks for your tip and the DWG-Purge app! It removed all the pesky linetypes that the ordinary Purge command can't get rid off.

This does not work for 2013 LT version.

Any help for poor LT users?

Thanks

See below link.  Ignore the top half of the link as the solution posted can not be used with LT. Skip down to the section titled AutoCAD LT and the DGN Hotfix and follow the advice below there.
