automatic dim convert in file from other file

Hi I am having one query. I always recieves dwg file of diff. units from my clients. I have to convert those drawing dim manually. Is there any way by which i can import those diff units dwg files in my dwg file and get the content of these files automatically converted to the units that i want. Help is most appreciated. I spend lot of time converting units.

Best Regards.

Hi Mohan,

The only one thing you have to do is to check the value INSUNITS in your drawing and the drawings you are inserting in yours.

For example if your drawing is in metric units (A) - set INSUNITS=4 in it, then if the drawing you want to insert (B) is Imperial - set INSUNITS=1 in it.

Now when you will insert (as block with INSERT command) drawing B into drawing A - AutoCAD will add scaling automatically.

The values I gave you are from AutoCAD Help topic about INSUNITS sys var. 1 - means that 1 unit in DWG = 1 inch, and 4 means that 1 unit in DWG = 1 mm. Then if you will insert the whole drawing with INSUNITS set correctly AutoCAD will perform all calculations for you.
