Autodesk Recap needs graphics card with driver that supports openGL 3.1 or newer

Hi,

I've installed the latest version of Autocad 2014, and when I lunched the program, I was asked to update the driver of my VGA as this message below.

التقاط.PNG

However, when I went to the home page of my Acer, then searched for all drivers/latest for Windows 7(64bit), I didn't find any drivers for graphics card at all.

Besides, when I installed the 2013 version of AutoCAD, I didn't face any errors updating graphics card.

Hello

- Which Windows exactly ? 32 or 64 bits version ??

The message is CLEAR, your graphic card driver is NOT Open GL v3.1 compatible !?

Autodesk Recap needs a "good" graphic card driver ...

Bye, Pat

Thanks a lot,

I have a 64bit version of Windows 7 ultimate, yes I know what is meant with that message, but I am asking if I can be updating the drivers for my Graphics card to be supported openGL 3.1 or newer. Or my Graphics card is not compatible with updating deriver that supports  openGL 3.1 or newer because I didn't find any derivers latest than I have for  Craphics card for my product at Acer website when I searched for Wndows 7(64Bit).

Also, note that AutoCAD (2013_64Bit) is running well without any problems at all.

Hello

Many people can't run Autodesk Recap because the graphic card is not OpenGL v3.1 compatible !?

Thanks a lot,

But you think AutoCAD 2013 is considered not  AutoDesk Recap because I can open the 2013 version of AutoCad without any problems.

Also, if you have a look at that error you would be saying that I was asked to update Graphics card. But I didn't find any.

Hi,

your ACER uses a GMA X3100 integrated on GM965 chipset (launched in 2007 by Intel). This video card supports maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows (OpenGL 2.1 under Linux).

See this page on Wiki

So Recap couldn't be installed on your system.

AutoCAD 2013 and ReCap are not the same product; you shouldn't assume that one will run simply because the other does.  The computer that you are using appears to be too old/outdated to run ReCap.

Stupid question to the OP: do you need to use ReCap?  If not, don't install it.  If you *do* need ReCap, then you needed a dedicated and supported video card.

Thanks a lot,

I don't quite understand what you are meaning with this stupid question.

Anyway, If you have a look at that error, you will be finding out that the error message says that if I want to use Autodesk Recap, I will need to update my graphics card with a driver that supports openGL3.1 or newer. If my graphics card were not supported to run Autodesk Recap, then the error would have been 'autodesk Recap needs graphics card that supports openGL 3.1.

I really have posted a thread at Acer forum, and I was told:

Try Intel's site for an update of your 965 drivers.
Intel provide support for OpenGL on the 965 Express Chipset. Have a look here for info:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=20046&keyword=X3100&lang=eng

You can also use Intel's update utility to find your driver:

http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics

But, as Olivier said in his/her post, that my ACER uses a GMA X3100 integrated on GM965 chipset (launched in 2007 by Intel). This video card supports maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows (OpenGL 2.1 under Linux).

See this page on Wiki. So Recap couldn't be installed on your system.

So  you think that this updating will let m graphics card opens AutoCAD Rep.

Also, I don't find any striking difference between AutoCAD 2013 and ReCap. However, the AutoCAD 2013 is working well on my laptop.

Are you serious? You're trying to compare apples and oranges.  They are two totally different products that do totally different types of things.  You need to read up on what the two products actually do.  You also need to realize that your laptop is too effing old.  People have been trying to tell you that.  Over and over and over.  Asking the same question in different ways will not change the answer.

Hmm!.

I am really not specialist in the Civil nor in Architecture Engineering. However, I was looking for the solution of an error installing autocad 2014, and I was told that the files of Autocad setup I have maybe are corrupted. As a result, I have given another link of dowloading autocad,

But, when I have downloaded and installed the AutoCAD from that link below given to me.
http://www.autodesk.com/products/autodesk-autocad/overview

Then, I was asked that there was an update. After that, I have porceeded to dowload the update, but when I downloaded and installed the update, it was installed as AutoDesk Recap with multilanguages. I didn't know how I came to that website of downloading AutoDesk Recap which is completely different from AutoCAD, although I have clicked on the 'product update' which was located on the top right corner inside  the progam of AutoCAD.

As a try to see if the Autodesk Recap would open with me after installing this new deriver for my graphics card, I would say:

This is the old deriver.

and this driver to be downloadedd and installed.

After installing the new driver, I reinstalled the AutoCAD 2014, but once I clicked on 'install' button, I faced the error below, I was given two options 'retry' and 'cance'.  I click on 'cancel'.

AutoCAD 2014.JPG

Then, I have faced these three errors in order, in each time, I clicked on 'OK' until the fourth screenshot, in which I have chosen 'trial version'.

AutoCAD 2014-1.PNG

AutoCAD 2014-2.PNG

AutoCAD 2014-3.PNG

AutoCAD 2014-5.PNG

After clicking on 'next' on the error above,  I reach to  screen shot below in which is AutoDesk Recap is checked, however, AutoCAD cannot be accessible.

AutoCAD 2014-6.PNG

I have clicked on System Requirments, and I foud these:

http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2014/ENU/System%20Requirements/index.html

NOTE: My laptop's specs are:

Intel Celeron Processor 530(1.73Ghz)

RAM: 2.5GB

H.D.D with a free 60GB space of out of 80GB

Mobile intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100

System: Windows 7 ultimate(64Bit) SP1.

.NET Framework Version 4.0.

Then, why was Autodesk AutoCAD not installed with Autodesk Recap? Only Autodesk Recap was installed.

NOTE: those erroses installing AutoCAD in my previous post are also shown me while installing AutoCAD on a very latest laptop with these specs:

Intel CORE i 5, 2.65GHz)

RAM 6GB

H.D.D: 600GB

Intel Graphics Card HD with very high RAM.

ATI Radeon Craphics card

If the errors were related to  that Windows 7  must be SP3, I would be saying that I have never ever heard that Windows 7 can be SP2 nor SP3.

You are absolutely right, because I really have tried installing the latest update of deriver for Mobile Intel Graphics, and this error showed me when trying opening Autodesk Recap. Yes the new deriver updated current openGL version from 1.1 into 2.0
