Autodesk products support Gtx 880 for modeling and rendering ?

Hi,

I'm planning to buy Msi laptop 2.5 GHz, i7 4710 MQ, 32 GB Ram, GTX 880- 8 GB graphic card

To use it for AutoCAD, Revit and 3D max."Heavy work"

But when I read more about the graphic card "GTX 880", some users said that it does not work well with these softwares, because it is mainly for gaming not modeling and rendering.

The thing is Quadro series of graphics card are not available at all in my country.

The GTX 880 it the highest card available here.

Please tell me what to do, go for this msi? Or buy a MacPro retina 15”?

Thank you.

Hello from France

Welcome to the Autodesk/AutoCAD Forums !

Generally NVidia GTX (High End ones) are performing very well with ACAD, Revit, Inventor ...

It's the "DirectX" problem !

And NVidia Quadro are slower and more expensive !!

Today the fastest graphic card (for ACAD, etc) is the NVidia GTX 780 TI ...

But if you plan to run ALSO SolidWorks, Catia, etc,  you need a NVidia Quadro 2000/3000/4000/etc ...

It is the "Open GL" problem !

I run SolidWorks fine (not interested in the Real View Graphics) on my Alienware.

And I'm working only with autocad, revit and 3d max.

So shall I go fot the GTX 880 Mx ?

Thank you

Hello JD

YES for SW, if you are not interested with Real View, a fast GTX 780 / GTX 780 TI is the best ! - idem for ACAD, etc ...

Hello Alio

--> Sorry for my word "problem", it was french humour !

There is NO problem with DirectX & ACAD, etc ...

I said this because ACAD, etc, is using DirectX and not OpenGL so a fast NVidia GTX is the best choice !

In France, I know people with older version of Alienware17"  (GTX 780M Series, if I rememeber well) and they are HAPPY with their hardware !

So the NEW GTX 880M (8 Gb) will be OK !!!
