So our office is in the process of upgrading everything to the new 2015 due to our subscription that i must say we are getting ripped off.
We pay thousands of dollars every year for new autocad / revit suite and for what? NOthing but garbage.
The new autocad doesnt work for crap. half the commands arent recognized, its slower than crap and i must say i feel ripped off.
Its slow, sluggish, ddedit doesn't even work to edit text. Unbelievable. Anyone have any ideas of where to start.
I have go things working better by turning most every feature off but its still very slow.
This is what i get for when i type DD for the ddedit.
Select object: Unknown command "DDEDIT". Press F1 for help.
<Entity name: FF72CCC0>
then you type out ddedit and it works but it takes forever to thing about it. Unreal! to say the least. Autodesk is turning into complete garbage
Oh and most the commands you have to type in at least twice in a row for it to start recognizing them.
This isnt only on one machine either, its on several
It sounds like your PGP file needs updated. "DD" has NEVER been the command for editing text -- your PGP file contained a line that said DD started the DDEDIT command and it sounds like the new install doesn't have that anymore. And if that's the case, I'm betting the same holds true for the other commands that "aren't recognized".
EDIT: Just in case you don't know what a PGP file is, here's what mine looks like (from 2012). And if you want to find where YOURS is, type the following in acad at the command line -- be sure to include the parenthesis. (findfile "acad.pgp")

Not necessarily updated, but restored to OOTB and then extended. I've had users cart around the PGP file from many moons ago and overwrite the new one instead of appending their aliases to the end.

Right. My only point was that their CURRENT one didn't include the aliases they're trying to use.

ok fixted the text thing... ddedit was no longer a command, its textedit. so i fixted my lisps and pgp's and my double click in the cui menu.
Now that all works. now if i can just get the thing to repsond quick.
i can type 10x faster than it will respond. zooming sucks, its sluggish and pauses alot. even going to pan something it does a quick pause.'
There's a command auto-complete to assist users which may be getting in the way. There should be several recent posts on how to restrict or disable it to allow faster command-line use.
Hello from France
Q1) Which Windows exactly ? Win Seven / Win 8.0 / Win 8.1
Q2) 32 or 64 bits
Q3) How much memory on your PCs in Gb ?
Q4) Which graphic Card and its driver version ?
Q5) Average size of your DWG (Main DWG + DWGs in XREF) ?
Q6) Have you a lot of Images inserted ?
Q7) Have you a lot of Annotative Objects ?
Q8) have you a lot of Dynamic Blocks ?
Thks in advance ...
Patrice BRAUD
all our pcs are win 7 64 bit with 16gb of ram 500gb hard drives at big 760gt video cards min. quad cores at 3ghz
i have all autocompletes turned off as well.
2014 didnt have this issue. Pretty sad you just update and its garbage!
Also im on AutoCad MEP 2015 and it says there are no updates or service packs for it.
Also it doesnt matter what drawing i open, i can even do a new drawing and it will be sluggish
it seems like it doesnt like any of the commands.
sometime i have to type the same command twice for it to recognize
AutoCAD MEP... that would have been helpful up front, as it is not the same as AutoCAD. It has a host of additional automation which may require some configuring; I recommend checking under the board for that product: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-MEP/ct-p/2036
Hello
A few suggestions ...
S1) Have you downloaded and installed the latest NVidia driver for your GT 760 ?
Because 2015 is very sensitive with the graphic card driver ... And the 2014/2013/2012/etc much LESS !
For example the Quadro NVidia users have to run with the v3.33 driver which has been released in May 2014
( Even waiting for a new one ... )
If you disable the graphic hardware acceleration , have you the same problem ??
S2) Please disable the Control Cycling (Ctrl W if I remember well)
S3) Maybe run with ROLLOVERTIPS = 0 & QPMODE = 0
Of course if you have an ACAD 2015 , you have installed the SP 1 !!!
If you have ONLY an ACAD MEP 2015 , you MUST wait until the SP 1 (for AA & MEP 2015) will be released !
Today this SP 1 for AA & MEP 2015 is in Beta Test ... and will include the ACAD SP 1 ...

The update is for plain AutoCAD, where you are posting: you did not communicate your version. Verticals come later usually for patches.
Another user, using ARCH, is also having difficulties with DDEDIT's replacement in another thread: since MEP is built on ARCH, you too should probably move to the correct forum for discussions with your peers about possible fixes too.
Be sure to report this bug to Autodesk, posting here is not the best solution:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1109794
If you are a subscription user, you can report through the Subscription Center as well (as in do it twice). No one else is going to do it for you.

To the OP, ........This. ^^^
Do this. Otherwise, Autodesk doesn't know about it, or they know about it less.
It looks this kind of complain is quite popular whenever new version arrives. For user's interface, I would suggest new version same as the old one as default, just give the user a choice at the beginning -' We have a new interface, would you want to try?' and the default options is 'No, thanks.'
Hello
I suggest one other improvment with new releases ...
<Humour ON>
We have new features & new commands, do you want to disable them ?
Default answer is YES !
<Humour OFF>

You can already do that, don't upgrade.
If you're on subscription, don't install newer versions.
To the OP and rkmcswain, This is my answer/suggestion:
Changing ddedit to textedit is quite a serious issue imo. I realy can't remember any function to stop working. After typing ucs 3 is still an option allthough not displayed anymore.
I hope they will bring back ddedit because it's to simply keep on working the way one used to.
@TS: I use d instead of dd for ddedit, it's less typing 😉
