I received an error message that my graphics card was not compatable with AutoCAD 2015 after i installed AutoCAD 2015 onto my new Dell Precision Laptop running an NVIDIA Quadro K3100M graphics card.
There truly must be something wrong because my cursor while using AutoCAD 2015 has tracers and there is a lot of flashing going on when i open AutoCAD files....
Any help would be greatly appreciated on how to solve this issue!
Thanks
You probably need a new or updated graphics driver. Check autodesk's web site for graphics card and see if it offers a link to download a new driver. You could also try NVIDIA's site, but I prefer the Autodesk one.
I get the same thing with the hp zbook...advertized to be a engineers workstation for high end graphics programs. All drivers and seeting updated by a professional computer company have not fixed the issue. Running in software mode will work but not sure what the loss of graphisc power or speed is yet.
Hello,
I found a way to get around the graphics card issue. Under Options choose the System Tab. There will be a Graphics Performance button under Hardware Acceleration. Select this and under the Effects Settings I turned the Hardware Acceleration to Off. If only working with 2D this should correct the issue. (95% of the time I only use the 2D function of AutoCAD) This does however affect 3D performance. Hope this helps.

True that this does fix the display issues but to me this is a bandaid to a bigger issue. There seems to be a bigger problem with AutoCAD 2015 working correctly with hardware acceleration on new laptops that use Nvidia's Optimus technology. If you get back into AutoCAD's dialog box for hardware acceleration you will notice that it isn't actually seeing the k3100m. My client that is having this same exact issue on a Dell m6800 his AutoCAD is only seeing the intergrated intel 4600 video card. No matter what we do we can't get AutoCAD to see it...
Currently waiting for either Autodesk or Nvidia to come up with a real solution...

Hello
Have you installed the SP 1 for ACAD 2015 ?
which must address the problem ... and correct some bugs ...

Greetings AutoCAD community,
There is a workaround for the cursor trails issue, but SP1 should fix that. Also, a recently-released NVIDIA driver set should clear that up.
Without installing SP1 or the new NVIDIA drivers, there is a workaround which involves forcing AutoCAD 2015 to use DirectX 9. Details on that workaround are here.
Regarding the flashing behavior when opening AutoCAD and/or drawing files, could you please detail your individual hardware setups, with respect to graphics cards and monitors? Please include whether you're using any external monitors and, if so, which specific kind of ports are they connected to on your laptops? Do the laptops all use NVIDIA's Optimus technology?
I am looking at a mobile dell workstation for acad 2015. Were you able to correct the problem? How do you like your dell? Is it able to keep up with acad? If so, how much ram, what processor? I bought a computer 2 years ago from Sony and it can not handle autocad. I don't want to make the same mistake.
Thx
Jennifer
Hello from France
With ACAD / LT / MAP / etc version 2015 , my advices :
- SP 1 to address many graphic / display problems
Maybe the SP 2 but you will have to add the "Layout Tab Order" Patch/Hotfix !
For MAP 2015 please the SP 2 maybe the SP 3 (The MAP SP 3 is corresponding to the ACAD SP 2) ...
- Latest drivers from NVidia/AMD : Oct/Nov/Dec 2014 ...
Sometimes NVidia display problems are solved by DISABLING the FXXA NVidia Anti-Aliasing !
- Special latest driver from AMD which is not "always" viewable from HP/Dell/etc sites/forums
Please look at this topic :
Sometimes there is NO solution and you have to disable AutoCAD Hardware Graphic Acceleration ...
Or remain / use the version 2014 + SP 1 ...
One of the largest French Autodesk customer is the french railways company = SNCF
SNCF has generalized the 2014 version and the 2015 is used only as an exception ...
Please on ANY 201X version , DON'T use any graphic card with a huge horizontal display : no more than about 3000 pixels !! ---> NO 4K card/display !!!
Merry Christmas + Happy New Year, Patrice
