Autocad 2015 and map coordinates

Hi,

I have a point location with known map coordinates. I have a 1:50,000 basemap image on a dwg created as a pdf underlay. Is there any way I can insert a marker in the dwg at the correct coordinates for the point on the basemap, other than eyeballing it? Can the pdf underlay be calibrated so that Autucad can reference 2D locations on it with map coordinates?

or am I better off using something like Autocad map 3d for this type of site layout stuff (seems like overkill?)
