Hi

I am very new to autocad and I am using the educational version of 2013, I am trying to teach my self the very interesting world of Autocad. I have been following various tutorials that are freely available online and in books.

Some of these tutorials are asking for the format command or the format tab on the ribbon.

Firstly I have neither the ribbon tab or the format command in the command line. It just says unknown command.

Is this normal or is it because this is the educational version.

Regards

I think they are talking about Ribbon and old Classic Commnand user interface.

What command did you type in to get Unknown Command ?

Down on the bottom of the AutoCAD screen is the status bar... and on the right hand end of it will be a little symbol that looks like a gear.  This is the Workspace Switching icon.  Click it and select the Drafting and Annotaion selection. Your checkmark is probably on AutoCAD Classic.  The Drafting and Annotation selection will give you a workspace with the Ribbon.

There is no 'format' command in AutoCAD: what is the tutorial trying to get you to do exactly?
