I'm trying to add a 2013 Excel spreadsheet table into my 2015 CAD drawing via. data link. I preform the normal procedure via the "TABLE" command however instead of adding the table into the drawing, the spreadsheet opens in Excel as read-only. Is there a known compatibility issue between Office 2013 & AutoCAD 2015?
Table - select from a datalink under the insert options - launch data link manager - create a new Excel Data Link - named the future data link - chose an Excel file from our server - Full Path - Link entire sheet - ok - ok
At this point I should be prompted for an insertion point to place the table within the drawing. I do not receive a prompt, instead Excel boots and displays the spreadsheet I designated within the data link manager.
All other commands/options not mentioned in my previous response, I left as default. Allow writing to source file is default.
Also, since there was no table to update there was no need to invoke download from source.
I have gotten it to work. Albeit, roughly working. It seems as though with the new software (Office 2013, AutoCAD 2015) Excel wants to run in the foreground for some reason. I ran the TABLE command as I described previously and, just as described, after clicking OK for the last time to insert the table as usual, Excel booted. This time, though, instead of closing Excel I minimized it and waited. Within 45 seconds the data linked table appeared within AutoCAD along with the insertion point prompt.
I have also noticed that when editing the path of an existing Table by right clicking a named datalink within the Data Link Manager, selecting a different file and progressing as I described before, AutoCAD does nothing when clicking OK for the last time to insert the new, edited pathed, table.
