ACAD 2015 - PAN with X/Y Contstraint not available in a layout viewport.

If you begin panning in a layout viewport, and use SHIFT to lock the pan to either x or Y axis as you would in previous verions, it does not work as expected in 2015.

It DOES WORK in MODEL SPACE, and in PAPER SPACE, but not when you double click in or on a viewport in a layout tab. Can anyone confirm this change in functionality?

Basically, I'd like to be able to pan inside one of 4 viewports on a single layout, and keep the Y Pan locked so the Groundline does not get mis-aligned from the other views.

One workaround I know is to move the whole viewport, and then alter the boundary to fit the area it used to occupy, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

How does it work in paperspace and then not? How can I recreate that?

MODEL SPACE - Begin middle mouse pan, the hold down shift to lock to one AXIS

     RESULT WORKS

PAPER SPACE - Begin middle mouse pan, the hold down shift to lock to one AXIS

     RESULT WORKS

DOUBLE CLICK in a VIEWPORT in PAPERSPACE, Begin middle mouse pan, the hold down shift to lock to one AXIS.

    RESULT- DOES NOT WORK

I haven't downloaded 2015 yet so I can't check it, but does shift work for ortho when drawing a line if your in model space in a layout?

Sort of....

Some wierd things are happening here. I'll explain.

I have a layout template with 4 views, PLAN, FRONT ELEVATION, SIDE ELEVATION, and ISOMETRIC.

If double click into the plan view, and create a line with the shift option, the line locks to ortho. Panning with shift still does not.

However, if I double click in my side elevation, and create a line with SHIFT, the line drops to the horizon line, and I see the line locking in my plan view (upper left viewport). I'll try to make a video of this, again, really weird

ACAD2015 LT - panning with Shift in a viewport works as expected, the ortho locks in and you can only pan side to side, or up down.

Post a drawing exhibiting that behaviour would be a good next step.

In the meantime use the -pan command.

-pan command does not allow me to use shift to go ortho, F8 for ortho mode does work, so I'll use that for now.

Drawing file enclosed, but all my frawings exhibit the same issue. The same files have no issues with autocad 2014.

I will record a video of the same drawing with both versions of autocad.

I am sure it must be a settings thing, I'd love to find which one, as we have many customizations that I'd like not to have to rebuild.

If you set SHADEMODE to 2D then it works.

Using -pan you will need Ortho turned on.

That's the ticket! My viewports were just "WIREFRAME" not "2D WIREFRAME" plot style was our own, but that solved it. That was not a problem in 2014 though....

Thanks!
