A laptop for AutoCAD 2014

Hello!

I'm looking for a mid-price laptop that can run AutoCAD 2014 acceptably - no need for the best performance. It will be used solely for 2D design with files that will probably ending up being around ~100MB. Any recommendations?

How much do you want to spend?
Is this for 8-hours-a-day type use, or casual occasional AutoCAD use?
How much HD capacity do you need for your many 100MB files?

What do you use now for a laptop/PC?

2D or not, 100MB files will require money to be spent on a system that's not going to take many minutes to load.

Honestly, I'd like to spend the minimum amount that will enable OK performance.
As for how much it's going to be used - that's hard to say. It won't be occasional though.

Up until now I used an old laptop that run a very old version of AutoCAD. As for the HD capacity I won't be needing much.

100 MB is huge for 2D files, even in the Civil3D world.  Are you sure you don't mean 100 KB?

Let's set aside the file size for now. Any reccomendations?

start here and purchase anything at the recommended level + some, what ever you can afford;

please note there is an "Additional requirements" section that you should pay attention to and not "set aside" or neglect due to the file sizes you mentioned.

On the requirements page it says:

"4 GB RAM or more"

Grab a high quality USB Flash Drive

Reformate it to NTFS (if greater than 4 gigs large)

Right click on it in windows explorer and tell it to ready boost

We had two and four gig memory machines (for our Padawan learners only) that were greatly improved with a Readyboosted USB Flash Drive.

It will not help much beyond 4 gig computer.
