Program freezes everytime I do something

I have 2015 and windows 7. It was working great for months and then all of the sudden it began to freeze up everytime I did a task...ie, I was trying to copy a line and it froze everytime I tried to go to the second point to copy to.

It doesnt matter what I try to do, it freezes at that second point.

I did a clean uninstall and reinstall and still the same problem.

It cannot be an windows update as the last update was installed Feb 12 and the program worked fine until Feb 16.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME...I cannot use this program now!

is the problem file specific? Or all files, even if you open a new empty black file?
What else changed on your PC recently? Windows Updates aren't the only things, could be a driver added/removed, another application, or simply unplugging an external driver or changing servers.

Hi:

Nothing changed on my computer...I did a windows restore back to before it stopped working and that did not help.

It freezes no matter what I try and do.

For example:

If I try and copy something it will let me select the object and endpoint to copy and then it freezes when I try and specify the 2nd point.

HELP!!!lol

Hi @kwebberdesigns

  • Have you installed all service packs
  • Are you working on files from a network or locally?
  • Are you on a standalone license or a network license?
  • What type of graphics card do you have? Has their been any recent updates released for the card?
  • Could you provide a sample drawing?

If you are working off of a network, test working locally and with a brand new file. You can also try the following solutions in this article

Let us know if that helps.

No updates to driver for it since 2013.

Examples see pdf attached to previous message.

Just as a test, take your machine off the internet by disconnecting the network cable.  See if the problem still happens.

Do you mean disconnect the computer from the modem?

If I have to do that to make it work I am in trouble as that would disable my phone also!

If it works after I do that, what does that mean?

The mystery is that it was working just fine until 2/16 (Tuesday)

Travis wrote "...as a test". Do so then share your findings, no need to speculate until then.

Running AutoCAD in a diagnostic startup is the quickest way to determine if its your system or AutoCAD itself. You can try these options first if you want;

  •  If you log on as a different windows user, does the issue still happen? Create a new user account to test AutoCAD in that environment.

  • Reset to Default Settings (save setting beforehand) - Your AutoCAD profile may have become corrupted and needs to be reset to default settings. See How to reset AutoCAD to defaults.

@kwebberdesigns

Were you able to test the diagnostic boot or any of the other suggestions for troubleshooting this issue?
