google drive sync

Hi,

We use Google Drive as storage for all our folders & files (architect office).

The storage is online + local on 3 pc's.

When we save drawing.dwg today, in a few days we get drawing.dwg (1), drawing.dwg (2) ... sometimes untill drawing.dwg (16).

Google cannot fix the problem, we think that every time a drawing.bak file is saved by autocad this indexed file arises.

Online we find all differtent versions of drawing.dwg, in de sync on the pc we find these indexed files ...

It's getting to chaotic with all these copy's.

I hope I'm clear ...

Someone suggestions ?

Thanks

Seppe Jespers

Google drive  is a poor choice for what you are doing.

Dropbox has a fix for this issue but I have not tested it.

Setting up a proper WAN is the answer.

Did you all change file indexing on your Google Drive? Go into your management settings and turn those off perhaps.

Using a cloud service, _any_ cloud service, as a storage location for an encrypted backup makes a lot of sense.  Using it as live storage for working CAD files does not.

If you're unwilling to get a real file server, at least look into a NAS device, and work from there instead, and only use your Google drive for backups, or files you are explicitly sharing with outside parties.

fusion team or BIM Team is a much better option.
