After installing AutoCAD 2015 as an administrator on a deployment of 50 PCs in a uninversity suite. Upon the users first run they get "Error 1325. Favorites is not a valid short file name". The program then exits and will not run.
A temporary workaround we found was to create a .bat file which deletes the reg key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Favorites , runs the program and then re-adds the key, this seems to work but is a poor fix.
It looks like a simple patch could solve this issue. The error appears on a "per user" basis, so if they have logged in before on the same PC and ran the program with our workaround .bat script then they do not experience the error. It possibly appears to occur because AutoCAD attempts to run a .msi installer which configures the "AutoCAD 2015 language pack - English" on the users "first run".
