Hi,

After the latest AutoCAD 2016/2017 and Civil 3D 2017 updates that was run last week and this week, all my ECW photos are distorted. it seems that there is an memory problem and this happened after I update to versions in the images that I attached.

Please help!!

Hi @jan.appelgryn,

Yes, this appears to be an issue with Hotfix 4 for AutoCAD 2016 (only on some systems) and this is the first time I have seen anyone mention this specific issue in AutoCAD 2017?

Is it possible to attach the drawing file and the images that show this issue? I have SP1 installed on my system and would like to try and duplicate what you are seeing.

Please also tell me your Operating System version.

Thanks you for your patience.

HI @jan.appelgryn,

I am sorry that you are experiencing this issue. I was able to duplicate the problem with the files you sent to me. In 2015 the images appear normally but in 2016 with Hotfix4 and 2017 SP1 they come in with the noise that you are describing.

I have escalated your case with the defect attached.

Thank you for posting about this issue in the forums. I have logged this issue with the development team for further investigation. Please do not hesitate to reply to this thread with any additional questions you may have in regard to this issue or any message that you want me to share with development that we haven’t already discussed.

I am also facing the same issue with ecw image files in autocad civil 3d 2016 and 2017,

I reinstalled and uptaded video drivers and reinstalled civil 3d but the problem persisted.

I also have the same images in tif format and with these I dont see any issue, so the problem is specifically with ECW files, maybe the image decoders/plugings are the ones broken.

attached some screenshots showing the issue

Hi @rogersame,

I am able to duplicate the problem too. I have escalated the above case and also documented the bug for Development.  Thanks for your confirmation of the problem as well and thanks for your patience.

Hi, if you have updated your CAD software, go to < Control Panel - Programs and Futures - View installed updates and uninstall the SP1 and other updates of 2017. I have done it and my problem was sorted.

I can confirm this solution also worked for me.

Running Autocad Civil 2017

Programs and Features

View installed updates (upper left corner see image)

Uninstalled AutoCAD Service Pack 1

Issue resolved!

I have had the same problems. Wasn't entirely sure from the thread what to remove... people removing 2017 but using 2016.

I have both 2017 and 2016 Civil 3D Installed (IDSP) and am actively using C3D 2016.

Uninstalled AutoCAD 2017 SP1. No change in ECW Issue.
Uninstaled C3D2016 SP3. No change.

Started to uninstall Map 3D 2017 SP1 - wouldnt let me without media!! But it installed without media. grrrr. Annoying.

Uninstalled AutoCAD 2016 Hot Fix 4. That seemed to solve the problem.

So, try removing AutoCAD 2016 Hot Fix 4 first. (I missed the reference to this in the earlier post, ah well.)

Dear I have the same problem in using ECW images as xref . My company , which operates in Cartography and transport engineering , has 45 license of AutoCAD Map 2017 and 8 Civel . For contractual obligation had to perform the update for all versions 2014 to 2017 and now we are with this and other great BUG problems.

As for ECW , we removed the SP1 and apparently solved the problem , on the other hand we have problems with mapimport command. Inadmissible the upgrade version with basic errors in trivial functions of the Map 2017 , should conduct performance testing before release, so obvious .

HI @Anonymous and All,

Good news! I just installed AutoCAD 2017 Update 1 (which should be available shortly to all subscription customers) and the ECW issue has been resolved.  I have also been informed that a forthcoming Hotfix will be available for 2014-1026 product as well.

Hi @jan.appelgryn,

I thought I would update the thread about this issue.

I have just found out that a hotfix has been developed to remedy this problem and should be available shortly on the AKN.
