I have just started experimenting with 3DCLIP, and I have encountered a problem that I need your help. I find that texts that are in front of the front-clipping-plane are still visible in the viewport. Likewise, texts that are behind the back-clipping-plane are also visible. It is like this:
I don't think they are supposed to be visible. In the example above, I have a row of ductwork in an upside-down L-shape that I want to show in the viewport. But there is another row of ductwork going up in front of it -- that I don't want to be visible. I use 3DCLIP to isolate the ductwork that I want to show. This works in the sense that the body of the ductwork in front of it is not visible. However, the texts of that ductwork somehow are still visible. I am sure that those texts belong to the ductwork in front of it because the texts will go away when I delete the texts from that ductwork. Strangely, the problem doesn't show up as long as 3DCLIP command is still active:
The problem shows up as soon as I exit from 3DCLIP command mode.
One thing that I need to point out is that the problem is only related to texts from a third party software. Standard texts from AutoCAD don't have this problem. Still I find this to be strange because I have unloaded the third party software from AutoCAD and the problem is still there. The logical solution is to go after the third party software company. But before I do this, I want to see if there is any simple solution.
Attached please find a test drawing that shows this problem.
Thanks in advance for any workarond or solution.

We've seen a very similar issue in both earlier versions of AutoCAD as well as 2015. I have to believe this is a bug. In our case not only is some text showing up but also bits and pieces of objects. (And the text is not from a 3rd party). Same as for you none of this appears when command is active. Objects behind the front clipping plane are not visible but magically appear as soon as we exit the command. I've used 3DCLIP for many years - it usually works fine - and I know the clipping planes are set up correctly.
Hi,
I am experiencing the same issue with Autocad 2019. Has anyone found a workaround?
Thanks
Giovanni
Issue reported here:
All of this seems to be related with TextStyles or Font type. Also, it might be related to 'True Type' fonts. Those font styles which are NOT 'True Type', work fine with Clip planes.
The only workarround I found useful is using layers/layer visibility.
Does anybody know how to report a BUG to AUTODESK?
