Maybe we don't realise it yet but within a year or two we will all be using Mac's.

Maybe we will all have a revelation that Mac's are so much better, faster, more stable and we’ll all want one. Be prepared for the big expulsion of PC's. They'll be thrown out in the thousands and we will all be queued up at our local Apple Store. Maybe the forecast is that very soon AutoCAD for PC will be obsolete/archived and Mac will rule. You better all look forward to Snow Leopard :smileysad:

One good thing about a Mac version is that it is a good way to get rid of all the crap. Autocad is like a bucket of nuts and bolts, most of them rusty. There are so many commands and functions that have evolved over the last 25 years with a lot of stuff we never use any more. It's true, it's what I dislike the most about AutoCAD. This way they can bring over only the good stuff. Build a clean efficient, smooth twentieth century version. Then one day bring it back to Windows. This could be a good thing :smileysurprised:

Hi Frank,

I'm not an Inventor user but I am trying to get this information for you.

Hi Frank,

We would have to test it to be sure, but maybe this helps:

"...Any changes made with Inventor Fusion are automatically and associatively passed back to Autodesk Inventor."

Thankyou Luconceicao, but I have tried this. It sometimes works for part files but sometimes gives as error. When I try it with assemblies I get the following message:

"This DWG file edits an Inventor assembly. Presently only Inventor parts can be used with Change Manager."

It would be so nice if this always worked and could always be used.

Hi Frank,

I think that you should post this question in the Inventor Fusion forum, first because the original topic of this discussion is different and anyone wanting an answer to your question will have a hard time to find it, and second because you are asking about properties of Inventor files (and as you know this is an AutoCAD forum).

If you agree, please post it there in the Inventor Fusion forum and I'm sure more people will be able to help you.

Cheers,

Luciane

I think we've been hearing that for around 28 years, and I expect someone will still be saying it in 28 years from now.

A Mac is getting so close to a PC (appart from the price...), that I d'ont see the point to oppose these two types of computers. I am not upset the BIG Autodesk announcement was exclusively for the Mac, I am upset because the BIG annoucement does not bring any new functionnality for 99.99% of AutoCAD users. I am glad for the 0.01% using Macs.
