View controls menu

How do I switch off and on the view controls menu, which sits at the top right of the screen?

Also, when I click on the "Viewcube" icon, the cube does not appear. Is it hidden, or moved off-screen somehow?

Uncheck the following (type OPTIONS to get this dialog).

That hides the Viewcube, but the toolbar underneath it is still there.

Do you mean this?  If so, there is a little X (in the yellow circle).  If you click the X, it'll close.

EDIT:  That's also controlled by the variable NAVBARDISPLAY.

doni49 led you in the righ direction.

A shortcut is to go to the "View" tab.

On the right, click on "User Interface"

There you can turn-on-&-off the Navigation Bar.

Hmmm....  A shortcut usually involves a quicker way to get where you want to be.  What's quicker than clicking the little x on the navbar?  Smiley Tongue

Of course you're right.

I should have said it's a shortcut to turn it back on.

oh that makes sense.  Yes that's a quick & easy way to turn it on -- a lot of people would have trouble remembering the sysvar name.

You're right about having trouble remembering names.

The last I heard, the longets AutoCAD command is "EXTERNALREFERENCESCLOSE" at 23 characters to type.

2nd longest may be "BAUTHORPALETTECLOSE" at 19 characters.

But who's counting?
