Status bar display question - AutoCad 2012 on Yoga 2 pro (windows 8.1)

I recently bought a yoga 2 pro running windows 8.1. I'm new to AutoCad and have been learning on the 2012 version. I was able to install the software with no issue, and everything seems to be working correctly, except the status bar icons appear so small they aren't really usable. Is there a patch that would fix this issue? I've tinkered with the resolution on the laptop (since the native res is QHD) as well as the dpi settings, magnification, etc., but nothing seems to affect the status bar appearance. Any help would be appreciated.

Not even current shipping versions of Acad work properly with the QHD displays.  I would not think there's going to be anyway to get things working the way you want with an older version of the software.
