Thank you to JRoper for relating his experience with installing service pack 2 to fix this problem. I loaded service pack 2 and voila! no more issue.

Thank you very much for your efforts because as I was having the same problem and also have McAfee, your solution worked for me also. I hope some day I can return the favor!

I am going to also contact McAfee about this problem. Maybe having more than one of us (hopefully more than 2) they may get a clue it really is there preoblem.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Ha! I switched to eset NOD32, and haven't had any problems. I won't touch McAfee again.

I check this morning and autocad was functioning as it should without any delay, so I check McAfee and the Real-Time Scanning was on. It must of updated last night and the problem must have been resolved sometime through the process.

I have a full year suspriction yet and haven't really had any other issues with McAfee as I have with others so I'm not quite ready to bail.

I just sucks when something like this happens and you have to spin your wheels and waste time and effort to fix something that should never be broke in the first place. So again I thank you for your efforts at trouble sooting this issue and ultimatly saving me a lot of  time & effort.

Hi!

Unfortunately SP2 didnt help.I remember that a couple of years ago many graphic cards had problem with rendering both 2D & 3D environments at once. When turning the properties to floating on my Quadro FX570 the problem's over. It seems that even when drawing in 2 dimensions the model space is a 3D environment and a floating toolbar gets also 3D. It also gets better when the performance drivers are installed.

Hope that autodesk gets interrested and tries to improve something.

Sorry for my english :smileyhappy:

gigi43, thanks for the tip regarding McAfee!  We had several users report this issue today.  I simply sepcified the full path & acad.exe file to be excluded in our McAfee policy, rebooted my computer & all's better! :smileyvery-happy:

Oops...looks like simply excluding acad.exe didn't resolve it.  I had to exclude the path to "C:\Windows\winsxs" in McAfee & it takes care of the general slowness of the Properties pallete when selected.  But unfortunately, the dimension picking is still slow...but we're able to work around it by collapsing some of the sections of the PP.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

And thanks for sharing a solution. We often ask what other programs are installed or were recently installed. Not all play nice with AutoCAD.
