Sheet Seet Creation Acting Strange

This has happened before but it seems to come and go.

While in the drawing I want to publish, I open up New Sheet Set under the FILE pull down, in Create Sheet Set - Begin window pick existing drawings, pick Next> and in the Create Sheet Set - Sheet Set Details give it a name, pick Next>.  Then in the Create Sheet Set - Choose Layouts select Browse and browse to the folder with the drawing I want in the sheet set, pick it and click OK.  And here is where things go to pot.  The folder actually has the drawings in it, the Folder name appears but the drawings simply do not appear for selection in the Create Sheet Set - Choose Layouts window.

I can start over, go to another folder, do the same thing and those drawings show up.  Even another project's folder works fine.  But the folder with the drawing I really need to publish to PDF refused to show in the Choose Layouts window.

I have exited ACAD 2012, exited windows 7, 64 but and rebooted, both several times, but the problem remains.  I had this happen in my older computer running 2012 in Windows NP, 32 bit so it doesn't appear to be computer or OS related.  It's like ACAD refuses to read the existance of .dwg files in a folder.

I've got to get these drawings plotted to PDF!

Note, a typical drawing will have several layouts and are included in a single PDF.  When I can select the drawing with the layouts everything works fine.  The problem in getting the drawing to show up for selection!

Sorry for rambling but it's late and nothing seems to get it to work!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi,

What happens if you copy the drawing to a folder that works OK?

And if you create a new layout, is it read properly?

And if you copy one of the files that work OK to the problematic folder, does it open?

Cheers,

Luciane

Luciane,

Thank you for the reply.

This problem has me backed up against the wall.  Usually via the forum, or trying this and that I can get through a problem.  This one is different.  It has happened before on a random basis but the issue eventually went away and I could get the drawings plotted.  I can plot other projects that are more complex and they work fine.

Regarding your questions:

What happens if you copy the drawing to a folder that works OK?  Only the drawings in the folder that's OK show.

And if you create a new layout, is it read properly?  Only with the other drawings.

And if you copy one of the files that work OK to the problematic folder, does it open?  Yes, but only that drawing.

I have audited, recovered (without errors), eTransmited, saved to new name, etc. the "problem" drawings but to no avail.

I can E-mail the drawings directly to you if that would help.  There is one base drawing and five x-ref's.

I have tried creating the sheet set on my lap top with 2011 and 2012 to no avail.  My desk top work station is running Win 7 and the lap top XP Pro.  I even tried it on the desktop I just replaced and same thing.  Maybe it's the drawing but why?

Thanks!

Are you OK to upload the files here?

If not then let me know and we find another way :smileywink:

By any chance, does it make any difference if you aply a page setup to the layout?

I removed proprietary material from the title block we are using on this project per the architect.

I can place this drawing is another project folder and all the other drawings will show in create new sheet set but but this one simply will NOT!  It is typical of the problems I have been running into.  What is unique about this drawing that's causing the problems.  Is it some odd system variable or what?  Same issues on different computers and different OS's.

I may not be understanding your problem, but as far as this drawing not working in creating a sheet set is not true.  I created a simple 2 sheet sheet set and it worked for me.  See attached.

What can I say?

It sure does NOT work for me on any of three computers running two different OS's.

What's going on here???

Other drawings in the folder display in the Create Sheet Set - Choose Layouts, but the one in question does not.

Is what I show is what you are trying to accomplish?  View wise with said sheet.
