Problem binding xref (proxy object)

I am trying to bind a floor plan into a drawing an I get the error: at least one of the specified xrefs failed to bind due to a problem with a proxy object. The floor plan was created by an outside company and we did the electrical engineering. Now that our files are due to the customer, i have to get our drawings to bind. Any suggestions on a solutin and what causes this? Thanks guys

I would open up the XREF and run an audit on that drawing and then I would do a saveas. After that I would try to bind the XREF.

run a recover all to see if that helps.......alternatively don't bind, simply e transmit the drawing files and relevant xref data.

these days AutoCAD can reference many different file formats i.e. images, dgn, pdf etc...none of which will bind so continuing to use such a dated workflow is going to become more and more problematic.

Had the same problem. I just selected all the drawing I wanted to copy and used the EXPLODE tool. Then I was able to copybase or put this drawing as an xref at another drawing and bind it. It works with the EXPLODE tool because it breaks the proxy objects that don't allow the command copybase or xref.
