Printing Tiff Files

When inserting a tiff file into a drawing on autocad 2012, the inserted file appears to have wide lines. When plotting this drawing, everything is fine except for the tiff file. It prints heavy or wide lined and any fine detail bleeds together. I can plot the same drawing on Autocad 2004 and have no issues. Any suggestions?  Another problem I have is extra marks or ghost lines that appear on my screen. This usually happens after I have inserted one drawing into another. If I extent all, I have to erase the extra lines or marks left on the screen. Anyone else having this issue?

"extra lines" have to come from the source file: dod you look there (after turing on all layers and performing a REGENALL)?

Never had problems with 2004 autocad. Old sys was 32 bit, new is 64 bit.

Sorry, there is not enough information here to help: post the TIFF or a link to it, or a DWG with the TIFF in it.

Cannot do. Customer info. A paper print is scanned into a Tiff file and E-mailed to my computer. When drawing the master print, I save the Tiff file in our server and insert it into the drawing I am working on. When I print the finished drawing, the inserted Tiff file is heavy lined and blurred. This is on my 64 bit system. If I display the same drawing on my old computer, which is a 32 bit system, I can print the same drawing, on the same printer/plotter without a problem. The same Tiff file is light lined and readable.

Is it a black and white tiff, or a color'd tiff?

Black and white. Scanned and saved, then inserted into a drawing.
