Performance Issues

I was wondering if anyone else has been having Performance Issues with 2011.  My original setup was Windows XP with AutoCAD ABS 2007.  We have since upgraded memory and OS and I am trying to figure out why things have been slower.  See time trials below for more information on performance trying to open a 20MB drawing file.

Original Setup (Win XP/ABS 2007/4GB RAM)

Opening a file via SheetSet Manager, 0m23s

Temporary Setup (Windows 7, Virtual Box Win XP, ABS 2007, 2GB Ram dedicated to Virtual Box)

Opening same via SheetSet Manager, 1m23s

Temporary Setup (Windows 7, Virtual Box Win XP, ABS 2007, 3.5GB Ram dedicated to Virtual Box)

Opening same file via SheetSet Manager, 0m56s

Final Setup (same computer, Windows 7, MEP 2011, 8 GB RAM)

Opening same file via SheetSet Manager, 2m08s

Opening same file via "file, open" command, 0m32s

It has been frustrating using the SheetSet Manager to open files and even once open, it seems to bog down more than the straight XP/ABS 2007 setup ever did.  Anyone have any thoughts or other similar performance issues???

where are your files stored? OS of the file server? Did the file server change too?

Did the new PCs come with "security tools" or similar vendor-added Win7 clutter that runs in the background?

Or did you add such tools?

It appears your issue started with Windows 7 since you had with with ABS2007 as well.

File are stored on the same server as before, no servers have changed or been swapped out by IT since the upgrade.  Also, the Windows 7 upgrade was made on the same computer previously running Windows XP Pro.  Not a new PC.  No sercurity tools or vendor provided software is cluttering the workspace/task manager.

XP mode is slow! I have to use it occasionally, and the plots take forever.

If at all possible, dont use xp mode. Plots (and everything else) will be much faster without a virtual pc...
