Help! I accidentally deleted the "visibility" parameter from my block authoring palettes toolbar. How do I get it back?
Assuming you have a basic, local install of AutoCAD:
Go to Options, Files tab, Authoring Palette File Locations and note (copy/paste into Notepad or write down on paper) the path. The folder should look something like this (except for the version):
C:\Users\<your login name>\appdata\roaming\autodesk\autocad 2013 - english\r19.0\enu\support\authorpalette
Close AutoCAD.
Browse to that folder and rename it (so that you can restore it if necessary).
Depending on your version and "flavor" of AutoCAD, find a corresponding folder named "UserDataCache" under Program Files, etc. For example, for AutoCAD 2013, the folder is here:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2013\UserDataCache\Support\AuthorPalette
You should be able to copy either the contents of this AuthorPalette folder (or the entire folder) and replace the folder listed in your AutoCAD profile.
AutoCAD will recreate the Block Authoring Tool Palettes the next time you run it.
(In the future, we will refer to this as a "morganism". )
