maintain preferences

Started work at a shop about six months ago. WAY to many layers, dimensions etc....

My question...

Is there any way to set progam so tha if I copy ANYTHING from EXISTING drawing to MY DRAWING, that the info will change to MY PREFERENCES, and not drag all their info along over. Doing so actually freezes my computer for 5-10 seconds

Try LAYTRANS and make a map to translate.

That is correct, it's a command from Express and only runs with full version.

AutoCAD works the other way: your MY DRAWING governs/overwites everything that is brought into it if that has a defined setting.

So the better approach is to start with a file that you like all the settings in it, or create your own with a new TEMPLATE file.

AutoCAD basic procedure way before LAYTRANS ever existed. Remember, Automation requires pre-planning and not post backpeddling 🙂
