Layers are changing to current layer....

I'm having an issue with AutoCAD and I'm not sure if it's a glitch or a command I accidently used. I use AutoCAD 2010.

When selecting an object, the layer of that object automatically changes to the current layer but keeps the original color.

For instance, If my current layer is "0/White" and I click on an object that's on layer "LINE/Red," it will change that object's layer to "0/Red."

I'm grateful for ANY help. I'm pulling my hair out on this one....

Layer LINE/Red

so you're not using color bylayer?

LAYCUR command appears to be working and as Patchy asked not color bylayer but set to color red or white?

My "Pickfirst" was set to 0, rather than 1. Thanks for the help...
