Not to be rude, but I am not asking anyone about how management should get users to do certain things. I was able to figure it out. It seems like people usually come on here and tell you how you should be doing things because in reality they don't know the answer to your question. Usually if I don't know the answer to a users question I don't tell him that he should be doing it this way instead of the way he or she wants.

We're not being rude either. We have been doing this for years and are offering a "best practices solution".

I don't know you, so I don't know if you are a 25 year CAD veteran that knows more than most of us, or whether you're a new ITT grad thrust into a position that is over your head somewhat.... That is just the nature of an online forum environment.

So, sometimes instead of directly answering the question posed, we might offer workarounds that are better suited to the situation, based on our experience. You can take it, ignore it, whatever...  I'm not knocking your reply, just trying to explain where we are coming from.

I understand and appreciate the suggestions, but the issue we have is that we have well over 500 users who are not all computer savvy. These are people that have been designers and coordinators since back in the day when drawings were done on paper, which makes the majority of our top desingers age range from 50 to 63. These users lack the basic PC knowledge required to understand the difference between launching AutoCAD and Raster Design or just cant hold on to that information. So I figured we could add a pop-up that would ask the users if they are sure they want to load Raster Design with the "NO" button selected by default, this way if they decide to ignore the prompt and push enter to get rid of the button then it will unload Raster Design.

At my old company we only had about 15 users and it was easy to go from PC to PC and remove or hide shortcuts, but my current company uses Novell to launch applications so users always have access to all shortcuts.

I know where your coming from when you mentioned that most people are from the drafting board days!  Nothing against them at all, just noticed the lack of decent pc skills from that age group and to tell you the truth I don't blame them for not picking up on good pc skills.

I've been in the cad phone support area for over 7 yrs now - one thing I wish and hope for most companies do in the future is to require some sort of basic pc skills test/confirmation before hiring type thing to be put into place and enforced!
