How to turn off interface elements

Is there a way to permanently turn off the interface elements that are showing up in the top corners of a drawing, specifically the item that says "[-] [Top] [2D Wireframe]" and the gray box with the ViewCube, Steering Wheels, and all the other stuff I have no need for?

When I turn off the gray box, it comes back up every time I restart AutoCAD.  In previous versions, at least when I turned it off it would stay off.

Thanks.

Okay, I just found out how to turn off the Viewport Controls.  I missed the option on my first pass through the options.  For anyone else wanting to disable it, go to:

Options > "3D Modeling" tab > "Display Tools in Viewport" section > Uncheck "Display the Viewport Controls".

Still looking for a way to permanently disable the gray box, though.
