Okay, seeming simple annoying question....the Xref dialog box has been changed for some time, but I still haven't figured out how to do something I only know how to do in the CLASSICXREF box.....save the path of an Xref if it has been re-directed. I can see how to browse for it, but how do you SAVE the path of an Xref that moved??
oh, I see....even if it finds it initially, you still must browse for it in order to save the path.
Whew! Im exhausted. Think I'll go eat a donut.
Not sure what you mean?
If it finds it initially, where's the problem?
If it doesn't find it initially, browse for it, then save the drawing and next time you open the file it should still be looking in the correct location.
it finds it initially because its in the same folder, but the Saved path remains incorrect, unless you browse for it (even though it already found it).....understand? It's confusing. No problem. Glad to have learned something, and I'm determined to move on with my life now. I'll start by grabbing another donut.
for anyone that finds this thread, i'd also like to point out the extremely useful (though it could be made MORE useful) utility "Reference Manager"
it can be found in Windows Start Menu > All Programs > AutoCAD xxxx > Reference Manager.
good for stripping out saved paths or editing saved paths in bulk. i wish i could change target file names though.
