How to get missing shx dialog box to appear?

We have some very old drawings with custom fonts and the original font is not available.  When we open the drawing, the dialog box comes up and we normally choose bigfont, which makes the drawing legible.

A coworker accidentally chose the box "always perform my current choice", then chose ignore.  Now we can't get the box to come up anymore.  According to the Autocad help files, if we change the FONTALT variable so it no longer specifes a font, the box is supposed to come up when you open a drawing.  We even tried restarting Autocad.  But the box will still not come up anymore.

Please help, we need to be able to read these drawings.

Options, System Tab, Hidden Message Settings, see if it's in there.

Was hopeful but that option does not seem to be there.  This is all there is.

(setenv "HideWarningDialogs" "1")

Copy and paste the above line to command line, see if if it'll work.

We tried it and nothing different happened.
