Hiding constraints - How to keep them from turning back on?

I'm trying to find an option to hide all constraints in a drawing, I am familiar with the toolbar option to turn display constraints on and off but my issue is that it's not a permanent toggle.  Every time I change from a paper tab to the model tab or activate a viewport the constraint display is automatically turned on again and I must wait for the constraints and the drawing to generate.  When playing checker I am frequently changing tabs or checking within a viewport, this is adding significant time required to check the drawing.  I have not been able to locate a system variable or command to "freeze" the constraints until I want to see them again.  Anyone know of an option to allow me to turn off constraint displays as I'm desiring or is this a Wish List item for R2014?

Hi, I think it is the "CONSTRAINTBARDISPLAY" variable.

I put it to "0" instead of "3" as initial value.

Seems to work for now.

good luck

Which program are you using?

Do you have a custom workspace?

Have you tested it with the default workspace?

I have tested this on autocad 2012 and autocad 2013 and once I hide all constraints and toggle between the paper and model space they do stay hidden.

Maybe there is some steps I am missing that would help me reproduce this.  If there is anything else besides toggling between paper and work space that unhides the contraints please let me know so I can reproduce and look deeper into it.

To answer your questions, I am using Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 and I do use a custom workspace.  Am I to take from that question that AutoDesk will not work properly if I use the workspace features/options?

I was firing up my video capture to show the issue in video format to attach but I was not able recreate the issue today on all the files I opened.  I know I've had this issue several times before in the past so there must be some corruption or stability issue arrising from time to time that I have yet to identify the action that results in this behavior.  I do recall that I completly shut down and restarted AutoCAD with no correction to the display prior to making my post.

So I guess it's just ignore this posting until it happens again and I'll be sure to video capture the sequence in hopes you might be able to recreate the issue on your end.

I finally ran across a file that will repeate the issue and video captured the effects I'm talking about.  As you can see, every time I activate a viewport or go into model space, the parameter displays are always on.  I can turn them off but when I go back they come right back on again.  It's not happening with every drawing so there must be some system variable controlling them that somehow got flipped on/off that is causing this.  Anybody have a clue what it might be?

That sure looks like it.  Couple of years to get that answer, but glad to get it!

YEss great! I was searching for an answer but can't find it anywhere so I try to take a look at all the variables arround constraints and finally found something!
