AutoCAD 2010/2011/2012

Hello!

My notebook have integrated video card Intel GMA 4500 HD and I can't turn on hardware acceleration, that tip in menu is unavilable.

So, the situation is:

AutoCAD 2010 - acceleration is turned on and working,

AutoCAD 2011 Update 1 - working,

AutoCAD 2011 Update 1.1 - unavialable,

AutoCAD 2012 - unavialable.

Notebook and OS (Windows 7) are the same all the time. What's the problem?

The Intel HD series of cards all have the same model number.  The only integrated version supported is the version for workstations.  All other versions are laptop cards.  Our testing shows the workstation card to be certified, but the laptop cards are not.  Unfortunately the workstation version was tested and certified first.  The older certified hardware list shows that model as being a certified card.  Since there is only 1 model number, the software cannot differentiate between flavors.  The laptop versions are not certifiable.  There are more laptop versions than the workstation version.  In 2011 Update 1.1, we changed the Hardware Certification List to reflect the current status of that model number to reflect the more common versions.  It is no longer certified, and therefore Hardware Acceleration is disabled.  Our developers are aware and working on this issue.

It was the first I did, the driver is latest.

It seems that I have to downgrade to 2011 up1.

Never a good or wise choice for most AutoCAD versions IMHO. If R2011 1.1 stopped supporting it, I sadly doubt there are plans to add it to R2012 or later versions.

It was good enough for 2D. Really.

IMHO It's not a good or wise idea to stop supporting this videocard.

Either AutoDesk or Intel MUST resolve this...

I have the 2011 13" Macbook Pro with Intel HD 3000 2nd gen i7. Can not turn on Hardware acceleration!!

This new integrated card by Intel runs Crysis 2 absolutely smooth... and it can't do hardware acceleration in CAD? This is sure a driver compatibility issue Autodesk needs to resolve with Intel.

autocad don't support hardware acceleration.

So my new autocad 2012 works on my shiny new apple even worse then version 2009 on my old pc.

This indeed has to be solved.

I cannot use Hardware acceleration on an Certified driver / card.  I get extension lines everywhere.  Autodesk support told me to turn it off.

yes it's the latest updated driver, also the previous updated driver and the latest driver from nvidia.

You all need to switch to the true AutoCAD for MAC perhaps: anyone dual-booting into Windows (no emulation app) and having the same issue on their Apple hardware?

The next version will be one for mac, but at the moment i have my version 2012 for windows.

So I'm using bootcamp.

In my opiniun it's only a driver witch is missing.

Sounds like the best option for the OP is to purchase a certified card. 

I don't believe the entry level Nvidia for Mobile is prohibitevly expensive.

My Intel HD Graphics card has a different model number than what is listed in the AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml.

I am using an early 2011 MacBook Pro, 13" model. I boot into Windows 7 using Bootcamp. I am using Autodesk Product Desigb Suite 2012. Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012 recognizes the card and enabled hardware acceleration, but AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 does not.

There are no AlternateId's specified for the 290 <card> XML element within AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml.

Am I understanding you correctly, that you're saying that the issue is simply that the required XML entry into the AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml file is missing?  If so, could the appropriate information be manually typed into the AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml file?  While looking through the file, I see several "<!--this next section is hardcoded for the time being.-->" comments.

The Certified Hardware page does list the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset as being supported, which is what is in the MacBook that I'm using.

This is the result of me testing all of the products within Autodesk Product Design Suite 2012 that I normally use:

Graphical Hardware Acceleration Active

• Design Review
• Inventor
• Inventor Fusion
• Showcase

Graphical Hardware Acceleration Inactive

• AutoCAD (to include Mechanical package)

From this, it seems to me that the problem isn't within the hardware or drivers, but the AutoCAD product specifically.  I tried modifying the XML file to include information about the GPU, but it had no effect.  If I were to speculate on where the problem is rooted at, I'd say it was within AutoCAD's programming that detects GPUs; "hardcoded" graphics card information within the AutoCAD product gives a bit of support to this speculation.

Has anyone had success with another CAD product, such as VectorWorks?

I´ve installed Windows 7 x64 with bootcamp in my MBP 13" i7, this one comes with the INTEL HD 3000 G.card....

when I use Autocad on Win I cant turn on the Hardware accelerator function either, ITS OBVIOUSLY A DRIVER ERROR. couse I can run 3Dmax smoothly.

On the other hand, on mac os I also have autocad for mac and and runs really good. I have read that this situation is global. Autodesk has to fix this soon!!!!
