Hand Letter (HANDLTR) font in AutoCAD 2012???!!!

Hi everyone,

Recently updated to AutoCAD 2012 and I'm missing the Hand Letter (or HANDLTR) font and can't seem to find it or an equivalent font.  There is a "Hand1" font but it doesn't really look that great compared to the old HANDLTR font.  Does anyone know where I can download this font or can anyone recommend a different font to use with the new software?  Thank you so much!

Sounds like it's a custom font.  Not sure, but I've never heard of it.  If it is, have you tried copying it from another computer to this one?  It sounds like an alternative may be the City Blueprint font.

Thank you for your reply, but unfortunately the City BluePrint font doesn't quite do it aesthetically.

Thank you.  Forgive my ignorance, but when I paste this into the Program File on AutoCAD it doesn't show up in the drawing.  Any advice?  Thanks!

I believe you have to place it into the C:\Windows\Fonts folder and then restart AutoCAD.

Here is how:

unzip it

Then while your Autocad is running, type in the line below with the parentheses or it will not work

(findfile "fonts")         then Enter, it will show you the Fonts Folder  path, put that handltr.shx in there

Restart autocad.

Ah, pardon me.  I hadn't had a chance to look at the font file until this morning.  Since it's a .SHX file I believe it must reside in the Program Files font folder like you spoke of.  I thought it was a .TTF file.  I could be wrong here as well, but in the past I've placed any custom .TTF files in my Windows font folder and it has worked fine.  I did try placing the file in the Program Files font folder and I'm able to use the fond fine.

You're correct

.TTF should be installed to Windows Fonts.

.SHX drop them in Autocad Fonts Folder.
