Exporting STL with multiple objects

I am exporting a design for 3D printing, and it includes multiple objects.

If I save each part as a separate STL file, and assemble them in my 3D printer software (Objet), the alignment of different parts is lost.

If I save it as a single STL file all the objects are grouped, and I cannot select them individually to assign them different properties.

I am using Autocad 2012 student version, and it does not allow me to select any option at the moment of exporting the files.

Any suggestion?

thanks!!

Stefano

All Objects need + coordinates for STL export. (XYZ)
I hope this help.

That has not been true for years. (I think since v2007.)

The solution is to have at least a tiny gap between parts.

For example, if I have a hole and shaft - in the real world the shaft would be made smaller than the hole with clearance for rotational degree of freedom.  The amout of clearance depends on function and on the manufacturing tolerance.  3D printing is not particularly close tolerance - so I allow extra clearance for parts before stlout.

Attach your dwg file here for suggestions on appropriate clearances.
