Cursor is Laggy - Please Help :)

Hi guys,

I'm using AutoCAD 2012 on ASUS WIN 7, i5, 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphic Card.

For some reason my cursor becomes very laggy and jerky as I use the "Line" tool,
that being said, my cursor is completely fine when I use any other tool.

I know in the AutoDesk "Knowledge Base" there's a similar Q&A for my situation, but after doing carry out all the AutoCad commands the cursor is still laggy. I don't have a face scanner or virus program turned on. My drivers are updated as well.

So far, only "Line", "Polyline", and just about any function that involves drawing a line (eg: arc), my cursor becomes very laggy.

Seeing my laggy problem is isolated to "Line" function, I'm thinking my problem is not a hardware/software issue, but more of a setting problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hey for anyone who's having the same problem,

change your windows to Basic!

Win 7, desktop, Personalize, Windows 7 Basic theme!

That'll solve the problem!

I have been having the same problem and tried all these suggestions with little success.  Then as I searched within the program for every kind of grid or condition that my cursor could be snapping to.

I thought I would just type in "SNAP" into the command line.  Wouldn't you know it, but my cursor was set at a 1/16th inch grid and I could turn it off.  It has litterally been that easy the whole time.  I am surprised that isn't in Autocad's recommendations to resolve the problem.

I am having this same issue with the cursor.  AutoCAD 2012 Mechanical.  I have tried every suggestion possible and nothing seems to be working, except at least in my case turning ORTHO off but I need having the ORTHO on to work. Here is what I have tried:

1- SELECTIONCYCLING - Off

2- Windows 7 Aero Themes - Off

3- Properties Palette - Off

4- Not using Bitlocker Feature

5- SNAP  on or off no effect

6- Nvidia Quadro FX 5800 driver update (in process)

Any other suggestions.
