The daily out of memory errors don't give me the option to do those error reports to you guys after the crash.

Any errors that do give me that option I submit a report under the email pgk920@yahoo.com

pkolaik,

I only see 5 crashes in our database but I believe the route cause is all the same.  Your hardware is not tested or certified with AutoCAD.

1)     Two are crashes in .net (Ribbon or other user interface elements).

2)     Three look like they could be memory issues.

You’re on XP 32 which has known memory limitations, and you have a Radeon X1300 which has not been supported since the 2009 release because it has known issues.  You are also on driver version 6.14.10.6618 which older than any driver we have tested in the past.  You may want to try and download a newer driver from http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/hc?siteID=123112&id=6711853&linkID=9240618&is_results=1&card_se... but please understand I think you issues are caused by your configuration.

Hope this helps,

Yeah, there being only 5 crash reports is because the "out of memory" errors never allow me to submit a report afterwards.

XP 32... well, not much is going to change there sadly, in this economy upgrades are hard to come by. (upgrading to 2011 suite of products was more or less "forced" upon us or we'd still be running '08)

Video card.. we'd looked at that and found it wasn't supported, etc.. but then also found the current driver, while tested, was still not supported for this card (if I recall correctly), so I was hoping it was something other than that. I'm trying to talk them into allowing me to get a newer card, but it's not looking like that will happen either.

Either way, thanks for your help Randy.

I have installed the exactly driver Autodesk specified, but it still did not solve my problem. I have to shut down my computer once or twice every day. I simply just go back to AutoCAD 2009. My computer is getting slower since I am using AutoCAD 2009, but AutoCAD 2011 even worse, especially when I switch screen between drawing to drawing using tab key.

Hi Randy,

In reading some your responses I came across your reply below to Bob in regards to the autdesk driver being active as default. I checked to make sure mine was correct, it wasnt, so i have sinced ticked hardware acceleration and selected autodesk. however you mention its is active by default, however all our machines have this unticked. at the moment i havent had any reported errors, should i be looking to change this on each of our computers???

Hi Cadboy3,

You should be in hardware by default if you have supported drivers and hardware. If you do not, we switch to software to avoid driver problems we know exist.

Since you have not posted you tuner log please go to this site and install the latest certified hardware.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Randy. I have the drivers supported by autodesk. However installing the latest drivers for nVidia Fx570 states it is not certified so I have had to use an older one shown on your drivers list on the autodesk website. Can you recommend if I can update to the latest or remain on this certified version. (Tune log attached) Assuming i stay on this certified version, i assume your recommendation would be then to activate hardware acceleration? Appreciate your time.

Hello again cadboy3,

I would suggest you use the 197.03 driver for all your nvidia systems. My guess why it is not showing as cetified is because of the you do not have your tuner database up to date. Just follow the steps in this blog posting http://withoutanet.typepad.com/without_a_net/2010/06/checking-your-autocad-graphics.html to fix it.

Hope this helps,

We are also having Issues with machines crashing. I am using windows XP pro version 2002 sp3 and my machine developes a Fatal error each time i try to close a drawing and 3 or 4 times a day tells me that Autocad is running out of memeory and asks if i want to complete the command when i click yes it crashes.

One of my team is using windows 7 and her scrren acts as if snap is on all the time and then crashes at least 4 times a day. Each time mine Fatal Errors i send in my error report but i have heard nothing from Autodesk.

Can you please help

Windows 7

64 bit

4 gb memory

2.27 Ghz i5 processor

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video (not on approved list)

2011 crashes consistently and locks the survey network module so that I can not edit my traverses and each time I try to recreate them they work fine until the crash. I have not been able to balance the current traverse (25,000 feet) before the program crashes! I am very frustrated and can't believe I have this expensive software and no one to help me with it! My subscription is due but what's the point in re-newing if there is no support?
