Control Properties of a Block from Excel

Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to control block properties in AutoCAD from excel?

Specifically, I have colored blocks drawn in each office on our floorplan and would like to control the properties of these blocks from excel. For example, if an office is assigned to the marketing department (as indicated in Excel), the block will be a blue solid hatch. If that office assignment changes to HR, then the block will become a yellow sand hatch. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

This will require some special coding.
